BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today that Rob Simpson, the team's original radio and television play-by-play announcer, will return to call the action on an interim basis for upcoming games in the 2004-05 ECHL season. Simpson replaces Britt Talbert, who leaves the organization to become Director of Hockey for the City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department.

Simpson most recently worked for Maple Leafs TV in Toronto, producing and hosting a program called "Maple Leaf America." The show spotlights hockey in the United States as well as Toronto Maple Leaf fans across the U.S.

"Rob is a top-quality hockey announcer; he's a real pro, and we're pleased to be able to bring such an outstanding play-by-play talent back to where it all started," said Eric Trapp, Steelheads Senior Vice President. "We wish Britt all the best in his new job, and thank him for nearly three seasons of passion and hard work of bringing exciting Steelheads action to our fans."

Simpson said, "Boise and the Steelheads are my ‘home-away-from-home.' I'm happy to help out and I'm looking forward to having a lot of fun with the team as it makes a run for the playoffs."

Simpson assumes all broadcasting responsibilities through March 13th, including hosting the nightly Bud Light Idaho Steelheads Hockey Show. For home games, he will be joined in the booth by color commentators John MacMillan and Mark Broz.
