Ice Dogs Get Another From Hamilton

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that forward Cory Urquhart has been assigned from the Hamilton Bulldogs as part of the Ice Dogs affiliation agreement.

Urquhart, 20, was drafted in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2nd round (#40 overall). The 6'3", 196 pound forward and native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, played one game this year with Hamilton. Prior to that, Urquhart played in 268 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), scoring 242 points in that span for Quebec, Montreal, and Prince Edward Island.

The last two seasons, Urquhart has finished 2nd on his team in scoring. He played last season for the Prince Edward Island Rocket, scoring 79 points in 67 games, and he had 78 points in 71 games for the Montreal Rocket the year prior. He joins Christian Larrivee and Olivier Michaud as the third player assigned by the Hamilton Bulldogs this season. Urquhart is expected to play tonight when the Ice Dogs travel to Las Vegas to take on the Wranglers.
