Florida's Surma Named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Florida left wing Damian Surma is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for October 25-31.

Selected in the sixth round (174th overall) by Carolina in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to Lowell of the American Hockey League, the 23-year-old Surma scored eight points (4g-4a) in three games as Florida went 2-1-0.

After registering an assist in regulation, Surma scored in the shootout as the Everblades beat Gwinnett 4-3 on October 26. In a 6-3 win against Mississippi on Friday, Surma scored his first professional hat trick, including the game-winning goal, and added an assist for a career professional best four points. He closed out the week establishing the league season high for plus-minus rating with +4 while scoring a goal and picking up two assists in a 5-4 loss at Pensacola on Saturday. Surma began the week as the ECHL leader with seven goals, 12 points and a plus-minus rating of +9 and was tied for the league lead with three power-play goals.

On behalf of Damian Surma, a case of pucks will be donated to a Florida area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. In Glas Co has donated over 10,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities since it began sponsoring the award in 2000-01.
