ICE Acquire Dallas Stars Prospect and Rebels Captain Dawson Barteaux from Red Deer Rebels

Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg ICE announced on Friday, January 10th the acquisition of 00-born defender, Dawson Barteaux from the Red Deer Rebels. Also coming to the ICE are a 2020 fifth round pick and a 2023 sixth round pick. In exchange, the ICE send the Rebels a 2020 second round pick, 2021 second round pick, 2021 fifth round pick, 2022 second round pick, a 2023 second round pick as well as a conditional 2023 third round pick in the Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Barteaux who hails from Foxwarren MB, was a sixth round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars and served as team Captain for the Rebels. He has played in 39 games this season, scoring seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points. Dawson signed his NHL Entry Level contract with the Stars in September of 2019.

The 6'1, 190lbs defender is in his fourth full season in the Western Hockey League. He has played a total of 213 games scoring 17 goals and adding 76 assists for 93 points.

Barteaux, who is 19 years old, has represented Canada at the U-17 World Hockey Challenge in 2016-17.

"Dawson is a premier defender in the Western Hockey League." said Matt Cockell President and General Manager. "We look forward to adding Dawson to our line-up, he is a veteran defenceman who will play a significant role on our blueline."
