Midland RockHounds News Release
The Frisco RoughRiders used contributions from every batter in the lineup ... and an outstanding performance from starting pitcher Noah Bremer ... to defeat the RockHounds, 7-1, Thursday night at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Bremer, the former University of Washington Husky, tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits (one of them a scratch infield single) and two walks while striking out six batters. Bremer (4-3, 4.63) departed with a 5-0 lead and earned the win.
For the third consecutive game, the RoughRiders scored in the top of the first and built an early lead. Frisco scored single runs in the first three innings, including a solo home run from Blaine Crim, and built the lead to 5-0 on a two-run double off the bat of Dio Arias in the fourth.
All nine Frisco batters had at least one hit and eight Riders either scored a run, drove in a run, or both.
The RoughRiders, who are in a tight race to gain one of the two Double-A Central playoff berths, lead the (six-game) series, 2-1.
Kibbles & Bits
There wasn't much good news for the RockHounds Thursday, but what there was constituted "headline" news, as Max Schuemann extended his on-base streak to 25 games.
He drew a walk in the third inning to extend the streak and added a double (and scored the 'Hounds' lone run) in the eighth, giving him hits in 23 of the 25 games.
Max is hitting .417 (43-for-103) in the 25-gamer, with a .487 on-base percentage.
