Hurricanes Recall Jerome Samson From Albany

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Jerome Samson (jeh-ROHM SAM-sohn) from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). Samson will be available for the Hurricanes' game tonight at the RBC Center against the Phoenix Coyotes.

This marks the second NHL recall this season for Samson, 22, who is in his third professional season after signing with Carolina as an undrafted free agent on July 2, 2007. The Greenfield Park, Que., native leads Albany and ranks third in the AHL with 32 goals, and ranks seventh in the league with a River Rats team-best 62 points. Samson (6'0", 195 lbs.) made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes on January 7th at Nashville and earned one assist in five games with the team before rejoining Albany. He has totaled 75 goals and 80 assists (155 points) in 200 career AHL regular-season games, all with the River Rats.
