
Hurricanes Recall Boychuk And Tlusty

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forwards Zach Boychuk and Jiri Tlusty from Albany of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Hurricanes have also placed forward Scott Walker on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
This marks the second NHL recall of the season for Boychuk, 20, who earned one assist in two games during his first stint with Carolina from Nov. 5 to Nov. 8. The Airdrie, Alb., native ranks tied for first among River Rats skaters in goals (11) and second on the team in points (24). Drafted in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk totaled 110 goals and 161 assists (271 points) in 237 career Western Hockey League (WHL) games for Lethbridge.
Tlusty, 21, begins his third NHL recall of the season and second with the Hurricanes, having totaled one goal in four games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes. Acquired by the Hurricanes from the Maple Leafs on Dec. 3 in exchange for the rights to Philippe Paradis, Tlusty has eight goals and seven assists (15 points) in 23 AHL games this season with Albany and Toronto. The Maple Leafs' first round selection, 13th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Tlusty has totaled 11 goals and 10 assists (21 points) in 76 career NHL games with Toronto and Carolina. Albany travels to Syracuse Saturday for a 7:30 faceoff against the East Division's Crunch.
