Columbus Assigns Right Wing Mike Blunden

Syracuse, NY (January 1, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned right wing Mike Blunden to the Crunch.

Blunden, 23, has appeared in 21 games with Columbus this season, recording 29 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating. He skated in 39 games for the Crunch last season, tallying nine goals, 12 assists and 68 penalty minutes.

In addition, he has appeared in 178 career AHL games with the Crunch, Norfolk and Rockford, notching 33 goals, 50 assists and 210 penalty minutes.

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Blunden was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by Columbus from Chicago in exchange for Adam Pineault on January 10, 2009.

The Crunch's next game is Saturday, January 2 when they battle Albany at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
