Hurricanes Reassign Jerome Samson To Albany

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Jerome Samson (jeh-ROHM SAM-sohn) to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Samson, 22, was recalled from Albany on Saturday and played 10:17 of ice time in the Hurricanes' game against Phoenix. The Greenfield Park, Que., leads Albany and is tied for third in the AHL with 32 goals, and ranks tied for seventh in the league with a River Rats team-best 62 points. Samson (6'0", 195 lbs.) made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes on Jan. 7 at Nashville, and has now earned one assist in six games with Carolina. He has totaled 75 goals and 80 assists (155 points) in 200 career AHL regular-season games, all with the River Rats. Samson is in his third professional season after signing with Carolina as an undrafted free agent on July 2, 2007.
