Hurricanes Eclipse Hitmen in OT

Lethbridge, AB - Dino Kambeitz scored his second goal of the game three minutes into overtime to propel the Lethbridge Hurricanes past the Calgary Hitmen 5-4 on Friday night at ENMAX Centre.

Justin Hall set the stage for extra time by notching a power play marker with 3:59 remaining. Koletrane Wilson and Alex Cotton also scored for the Hurricanes.

Riley Stotts led the Hitmen with a goal and two assists to eclipse the 150 career point plateau. James Malm, Orca Wiesblatt and Jett Woo tallied the other goals for Calgary which turned a 3-1 first period deficit into a 4-3 third period lead before the Lethbridge rally.

Despite the setback, the Hitmen have now picked up at least a point in seven of their last nine road games posting a record of 5-2-2-0.

Calgary outshot Lethbridge 30-22 but lost the special teams battle going 1-4 on the power play compared to the 'Canes 3-6 performance with the man advantage.

With the victory, the Hurricanes improve to 21-10-0-5 while the Hitmen slip to 16-10-4-1.

Calgary is back on the ice tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 28 in Medicine Hat for a date with the Tigers.

The Hitmen then head home for a pair of games beginning on Monday, Dec. 30 against the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome for Allstate Canada Soccer Day which includes a second intermission soccer ball toss. Among the prizes to be won is a $200 Visa Gift Card, a $200 Amazon Gift Card, a Mach II Gaming Chair, a HP Laptop and a PlayStation4. It's followed by a New Year's Day game at the 'Dome against Medicine Hat. Puck drops at 1:00 p.m. for Airdrie Day presented by Southland Transportation.
