Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Shooter Hunt claimed his first victory as a Snapper and first victory as a professional Monday night as the Snappers defeated Peoria by a 2-1 score. Hunt allowed just one run in six innings of work to pick up the first win of his young career.

Beloit gave Shooter some support early, scoring one in the bottom of the first inning. Rene Leveret smashed an RBI-single with two outs, scoring Estarlin De Los Santos from third base. Estarlin's run put the Snappers up 1-0 after one.

Leveret put another run on the board for the Snaps in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI-ground out to short. Rene's ground out plated De Los Santos, who earlier singled, from third base. Estarlin's second run of the game put the Snaps up 2-0 after three innings.

Peoria came back with their lone run of the game in the top of the sixth inning off of Shooter Hunt. A Brandon Guyer triple followed by a Mario Mercedes single made it a 2-1 game after five and a half.

That would be all that the Beloit staff would allow, however, as relievers Charles Nolte and Santos Arias followed Hunt with three innings of scoreless relief. The trio combined to allow just one run, five hits and four strikeouts to give Beloit the 2-1 win.

Estarlin De Los Santos went 3-for-4 with two runs for the Snaps who improved to 26-24 with the win.
