Huge July Lands Hernandez Pitcher of the Month Honours

The American Association announced today that Winnipeg Goldeyes left-handed pitcher Nick Hernandez has been named the American Association's Rawlings Pitcher of the Month for July.

Hernandez, who turned 27 on July 30, made six starts in July, going 5-1 with a 1.42 ERA and two complete-game shutouts. He worked through seven innings in four of his starts and, in addition to his shutouts, pitched seven scoreless innings July 7 at Fargo in an 11-0 win. In the six games he started, he pitched 44 1/3 of a possible 54 innings.

On the season, Hernandez leads the American Association with a 1.87 ERA in 14 starts. He was named the American Association's Rawlings Pitcher of the Month in June and August of last year en route to being selected as the league's 2014 pitcher of the year.

The Goldeyes continue a three-game series with the Kansas City T-Bones this afternoon at Shaw Park. Game time is 1 p.m.
