
Johnson Dominates once again with 8-0 Shutout over AirHogs

The Sioux City Explorers scored four runs in the bottom of the third and never looked back, shutting out the AirHogs 8-0 at Lewis and Clark Park and extending their win streak to six games. Right-hander Patrick Johnson improved his record to an astounding 10-0 on the season, going seven innings, allowing no runs and striking out nine.
In the fifth inning, the X's scored two more to extend Sioux City's lead 6-0. Rene Tosoni doubled with one out and later scored off a Brock Kjeldgaard fly-out to right field. The second run crossed home when Ryan Court singled to score Perio from second base.
The Explorers plated a run in both the sixth and seventh innings, Tim Colwell scored the seventh run on an error in the sixth inning. In the seventh, Brock Kjeldgaard doubled to start the bottom half, moved to second on a groundout and scored off a Tommy Mendonca RBI single to score the eighth and final run of the evening.
Explorers starter Patrick Johnson (10-0) continued his outstanding season on the mound, holding Grand Prairie scoreless in seven innings with nine strikeouts. AirHogs left-hander Bennett Whitmore (2-6) was charged with the loss, giving up eight runs (seven earned) in eight innings pitched.
Every single Explorer player had a hit tonight with five batters finishing with two hits or more. X's left-fielder Tim Colwell had himself a three hit night at the plate with two runs scored. Brent Keys, Rene Tosoni, Brock Kjeldgaard and Noah Perio Jr all went 2 for 4 with a handful of RBIs and runs scored.
