
Hudson Valley Falls in High Scoring Affair to Tri-City

Troy, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades were defeated by the Tri-City ValleyCats by a score of 7-6 on Saturday evening at Joe Bruno Stadium.
Hudson Valley loaded the bases in the top of the second inning on singles from each third baseman Hector Montes, center fielder Angel Moreno and first baseman Nic Wilson. With two outs, second baseman Jake Cronenworth drove in Montes and Moreno with a two-run single to give the Renegades a 2-0 lead. The ValleyCats tied the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the second inning as first baseman Dexture McCall drove in a run on a RBI double and later scored in the frame on a wild pitch.
The Renegades re-took the lead at 3-2 in the top of the third inning as designated hitter Joe McCarthy led off the frame with a double and came around to score on a RBI single by left fielder Jose Paez. That lead grew to 4-2 as right fielder Manny Sanchez, who reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the top of the third inning, scored on a wild pitch.
The Renegades lead was extended to 5-2 as Cronenworth walked to lead off the top of the fourth inning, moved to third on a single by shortstop Michael Russell and scored on a RBI ground out from McCarthy.
Tri-City cut the Renegades lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning as catcher Marlon Avea reached on an error, allowing designated hitter Kolbey Carpenter to score. Hudson Valley restored their three-run advantage in the top of the seventh inning as Cronenworth drove in a run on a two-out single to give the 'Gades a 6-3 lead.
The ValleyCats answered in the bottom of the seventh by scoring four runs, keyed by a two-run single from center fielder Johnny Sewald and a two-run home run by left fielder Johnny Mizell, to take a 7-6 lead.
Rogelio Armenteros (2-2) picked up the win in relief for Tri-City as he allowed a run in three and a third innings pitched while Jacob Dorris earned his sixth save of the season after retiring four of his five outs via strikeout. Reece Karalus (2-1) took the loss in relief for Hudson Valley as he gave up a run in an inning and two-thirds pitched. Angel Yepez started for the Renegades and struck out five batters over five innings while allowing two earned runs.
With the result, the Renegades saw their record fall to 29-30 while Tri-City improved to 33-26.
