5 Things to Know about #HOUvDAL

Texas Derby Part III

FC Dallas travels down to BBVA Stadium to take on Houston Dynamo FC in the third and final Texas Derby this season. Since the clubs drew in their previous two meetings, the outcome of Saturday's match will decide who keeps El Capitán (an 18th-century replica cannon) as the winner of the 2021 Texas Derby series. If the clubs tie for a third time, FCD would retain possession of El Capitán. Dallas can also clinch the inaugural MLS Copa Tejas title by taking all three points. Most importantly, though, a win would help keep FCD in the tight Western Conference playoff race.

Facing Fafa

FC Dallas will have to contend with former player Fafa Picault this Saturday. Picault is Houston's leading scorer this season with nine goals, two of which have come against FC Dallas from the penalty spot (one in each of the previous games). Dallas' backline will need to keep a close eye on Picault to make sure he doesn't make it three goals in three games against his former team.

Jáder Obrian

Dallas winger Jáder Obrian earned his first MLS Team of the Week honor this Thursday after scoring two goals in the club's wild 3-3 draw away to New York City FC. The brace brought his season tally up to six goals on the year, tied with Jesús Ferreira for second-most on the team (behind Ricardo Pepi's 12). Obrian is also the only player to have played in all 25 games for Dallas so far this season.

Against Houston

FC Dallas has a 13-12-16 (64 goals for, 57 goals against) all-time regular season record against Houston. The club's all-time away record against the Dynamo is 4-9-8 (29 GF, 34 GA). The clubs have faced each other twice already this year, playing to a 1-1 draw at Toyota Stadium on May and a 2-2 draw at BBVA Stadium on Sept. 18.

About Houston

Houston is currently in 12th place in the Western Conference with 23 points and 4-10-11 record. The club's leading scorer is former FCD winger Fafa Picault with nine goals. Recently, the team endured a club-record 16-game winless streak before earning a 3-0 victory over Austin FC on Sept. 11. Last time out, Houston registered a 1-1 draw away to the LA Galaxy.
