
Sounders FC Travels to Real Salt Lake for Weekend Matchup

SEATTLE, WASH. - After earning a spot in the Leagues Cup Final by defeating Liga MX side Santos Laguna 1-0 on Tuesday night, Sounders FC (13-4-6, 45 points) travels to Utah to face Real Salt Lake (9-9-6, 33 points) Saturday evening (6:30 p.m. PT / JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). The two sides have a storied history in MLS, with RSL being one of the Rave Green's first opponents after joining the league in 2009. The clubs met in Seattle's second-ever MLS match, a 2-0 victory for Sounders FC on March 28, 2009 at Lumen Field.
The series itself is as even as they come, with a 12-12-5 overall regular-season record between the two sides and an even 34-34 goal differential. Both sides have been dominant at home, with Seattle boasting an 11-3-2 record at Lumen Field, while Real Salt Lake has a 9-1-3 mark at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The two teams have also met on a number of occasions in the playoffs, with Sounders FC leading the postseason series 3-1-1, outscoring Real Salt Lake 5-3. The latest playoff matchup came on October 23, 2019, a 2-0 win for Seattle at Lumen Field en route to its second MLS Cup.
Following the match against Real Salt Lake, Sounders prepares for the 2021 Leagues Cup Final against Club LeoÃÂn on Wednesday, September 22 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN2, TUDN, 950 KRJ AM, El Rey 1360 AM). The club then heads to Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, September 26 (4:00 p.m. PT / FS1, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
