Houston Dash News Release
HOUSTON - The Houston Dash will kick off the 2020 NWSL Season against the reigning NWSL Champions North Carolina Courage for their home opener, Saturday, April 25 at BBVA Stadium.
The full schedule for the 2020 Dash season is expected to be released later this month.
Single-match tickets will be available for sale beginning Tuesday, March 17. Fans can secure their seats for Opening Day and every match by becoming a Houston Dash 365 Member. Dash 365 Members receive a number of exclusive benefits, including gifts, privileges and year-round experiences and events. Annual memberships start as low as $240 for all 12 matches.
This is the second season for Dash head coach James Clarkson, who joined the club as the fourth full-time head coach in club history on Dec. 11 ahead of the 2019 NWSL season. Clarkson spent the offseason reinforcing the Dash backline and depth as the team navigates the Olympic Games later this year.
The Dash acquired center back Katie Naughton, a crucial player in Chicago's 2019 NWSL Final run and Megan Oyster who was a stout defender for Reign FC. With the teams' 2019 MVP player and goalkeeper Jane Campbell holding it down in goal, Houston will look to top last season's campaign and earn a spot in the 2020 NWSL playoffs.
Offensively, Rachel Daly will be joined by new potent additions in Katie Stengel and Shea Groom at the forefront, creating a dangerous attack for Houston. Forwards Nichelle Prince, Veronica Latsko and Kayla McCoy are also back with the squad after suffering season-ending injuries early into the 2019 season.
During the club's six-year history, the Dash have gone 3-1-2 in home openers at BBVA Stadium. Last year, the Dash opened the 2019 NWSL season with a 1-1 draw against Reign FC when Prince scored the first goal of the game ten minutes into the first half. Reign forward Darian Jenkins scored the equalizer in the second, ending the matchup in a tie.
