NWSL Announces 2020 Home Openers
Published on February 19, 2020 under National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) News Release
Chicago - The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) today announced the 2020 home openers for each of its nine teams. All clubs will play their home openers within the first two weeks of the season except for Reign FC who will host the Chicago Red Stars in Tacoma on May 3.
Among the highlights: The North Carolina Courage will open the season at home against the Chicago Red Stars, in a rematch of the 2019 NWSL Championship. Chicago will then take on the Portland Thorns on April 25 at Seat Geek Stadium in a rematch of the 2019 NWSL Semifinal.
The Washington Spirit will host Reign FC on April 18 at Audi Field and look to break their current club attendance record of 19,871 set last season when they defeated the Orlando Pride 2-1 in D.C.
This offseason, Sky Blue FC announced they will make the move from Yurcak Field and play all 2020 home matches at Red Bull Arena following two successful games in Harrison, NJ in 2019. They play their first home game of 2020 at their new soccer-specific stadium on April 26 in a matchup with Reign FC.
