Houston Aeros News Release


The Houston Aeros (8-8-1-1) defeated San Antonio 5-1 Tuesday night and Milwaukee 4-1 Friday but lost 3-2 in a shootout against Milwaukee Sunday night. The team hits the road today playing in Iowa at 7:07 p.m. tomorrow night and in Rockford at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday. Houston returns home for back-to-back home games against Peoria on Friday and Grand Rapids Saturday, both games are at 7:35 p.m. For more information or to order tickets call 713.974.PUCK.

TUE, at IOW, 7:07 p.m.

The Iowa Stars (9-10-1-0) host the Aeros Tuesday night in the second meeting of the season. The first game resulted in the Stars winning 4-3 in the overtime at Iowa on October 12. The teams will have six more meetings this season after Tuesday's contest, the last four in Houston. The Aeros are 10-9-1-1 all time versus Iowa and 6-4-1-0 playing in Des Moines.

WED, at RFD 7:05 p.m. Houston hosted the Rockford IceHogs on October 17 and dropped the first ever meeting 3-2 at Toyota Center. The loss extended the Aeros home-losing streak to eight games, dating back to March 31 of last season. The teams will have four more meetings after Wednesday, two at home and two on the road.

FRI, vs. PEO 7:35 p.m. The Aeros play the Peoria Rivermen for the third time this season, second at home. Each visiting team has won 3-1 in the two prior games and the all-time record now stands at 10-10-1-1 and the Aeros are 7-3-0-1 on Toyota Center ice. The teams will clash five more times this season after Friday night's contest.

Friday is also the Aeros Coffe Mug giveaway where the first 3,000 fans will receive a mug courtesy of Metal Sawing Technology. Tickets are still available so don't miss out!

SAT, vs. GRA 7:35 p.m. Houston will host the first of two match-ups with the Grand Rapids Griffins this season. The Aeros are 21-19-6-2 against the Griffins since joining the AHL and have a 9-7-4-2 record at home in the same time frame. D Erik Reitz leads Houston with five points (2-3=5) all-time against Grand Rapids.

The first 3,000 fans into Toyota Center will receive a fleece blanket, Saturday night. Show up early so you don't get the chills!

11/25 vs. MIL, 0-0=0, scored Aeros only shootout marker in loss The two multi-point games marked his 53 and 54 of his career and 41st multi-assist game. Kelly scored four of his five points this season, last week.

TEAM NOTES

- Houston has had three games go to a shootout finally losing their first shootout on Sunday against the Milwaukee Admirals.

- The Aeros had a five-game home-winning come to an end on Sunday against Milwaukee in a shootout. The last time Houston had a streak of five or more consecutive home wins was in the 2005-06 season in which the team had seven straight (11/30-12/28/-05). Houston still has not lost a game in regulation at Toyota Center in their last six.

- The Aeros have won two games in a row three different times this season, but have been unable to win a third straight each time. The last time Houston won more than two consecutive games was last season when they won five straight (11/4-11/17/06).

- Center Steve Kelly had a three-game scoring streak snapped on Sunday against Milwaukee. Kelly had five points (2-3=5) in those three games. He battled through injury for the first part of the season and has played in 11 of the Aeros 18 games. Kelly hadn't scored a point until the November 20th game against San Antonio, but had those five points in the last four games.

- Special teams have steadily improved for Houston throughout the season. In the teams first 10 games, the Aeros scored just four power play goals on 69 chances (.058), however in their last eight games, the Aeros have scored 10 goals on 49 chances (.204). The penalty kill unit gave up at least one goal in their first 13 games, but in the last five games Houston has killed 29 of 31 penalties (.935) including three games in which they killed every penalty.

Affiliation News

Minnesota leads the Northwest Division with a record of 12-9-0-2, leading Colorado by one point. The 26 points puts the Wild at third in the conference with Detroit leading the way at 32 points.

The Minnesota Wild are 3-3-0-0 in their last six games including a 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators Saturday night. Former Aeros Aaron Voros and Matt Foy each netted a goal in the win, Foy also assisted on Voros' marker. The team will host Phoenix Wednesday night in their first of a four-game homestand. Former Aero Pierre-Marc Bouchard leads the team in scoring with 19 points (5-14=19).

The Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL went 3-0-0-1 last week extending their road undefeated-streak to nine games this season. The Wildcatters (12-2-0-3) have a league-leading 27 points and hold a four point lead in the South Division over Gwinnett.

Tuesday:The Houston Aeros gave up the first goal of the game, but netted five unanswered goals for a 5-1 win over the San Antonio Rampage (11-6-1-3) in front of 3,785 fans at Toyota Center, Tuesday night. Houston (7-8-1-0) allowed the first goal which had been a bad sign for the club, going 1-5-1-0 prior to Tuesday's game.

Friday:The Houston Aeros scored two first period goals which proved to be enough as they defeat the Milwaukee Admirals 4-1 in front of 5,878 fans at Toyota Center, Friday night. With the win the Aeros (8-8-1-0) are within two points of a two-way tie for 5th in the West, which includes Milwaukee (9-6-1-0).

Sunday:The Houston Aeros grabbed two leads in the game against the Milwaukee Admirals but let both leads slide, losing the game 3-2 in the shootout. The Admirals netted two goals in the shootout to Houston's one in front of 8,103 fans at Toyota Center Sunday night.
