Hounds Suffer Second Straight Loss

BOSSIER CITY, LOUISIANA - The Youngstown SteelHounds suffer their second straight loss as they fall to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday night by a score of 7-2.

Youngstown scored first as Jason Baird put in a power play goal at 10:39 to make it 1-0. Bossier-Shreveport answered back as Elias Godoy scored at 15:56 to tie the game at one. Just eight seconds later they took the lead as Justin Aikins scored to make it 2-1 Mudbugs after one period.

In the second period the Mudbugs extended their lead as Chris Brassard scored on a breakaway at 4:39 to make it 3-1. The Hounds tried to fight back as Mark Johnson scored his first goal of the season at 10:14 to make it a 3-2 game after two periods.

The floodgates opened in the third period as the Mudbugs scored four unanswered goals to take a 7-2 victory. The goals were scored by Tyrel Lucas, Kevin Cooper, Ryan Fairbarn (on the power play) and Karlis Zirnis.

The SteelHounds out shot the Mudbugs 27-20 for the game. Bossier-Shreveport has won the last two meetings and are now 8-6-2 (18 points). Youngstown has lost two straight and three of their last five and are now 13-3-1 (27 points) on the season. The Hounds are still in first place in the Northeast Division.
