Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
LAREDO, TEXAS - The Youngstown SteelHounds remain the one team in the Central Hockey League without a loss in regulation as they defeated the Laredo Bucks by a score of 3-2 on Saturday night. The Bucks came into the game perfect at 10-0-0 (20 points) and fall one win short of setting a new league record for best start to a season.
The Hounds came out firing in the first period as Bryan Lachapelle scored his first goal of the season at 7:00 to make it 1-0. Eric Przepiorka gave the Hounds a 2-0 lead with his fifth goal of the season at 11:22 of the first period. Laredo answered back as Igor Agarunov scored at 14:44 to make it 2-1 Youngstown after one period.
After a scoreless second period, Kevin Jarman received a cross ice pass from Petr Pohl and put the puck past Dustin Traylen to put the Hounds up 3-1. Jarman has five goals on the season. Petr Pohl and Przepiorka had two points each during the game and extend their point streaks to six games. Chris Korchinski scored late for the Bucks to make it 3-2 but it was too late as Andy Franck stopped 33 of 35 shots including 16 in the third period to give the Hounds the 3-2 win.
Laredo is now 10-1-0 (20 points) and remain in first place in the Southeast Division. The Hounds improve to 9-0-1 (19 points) and stay in first in the Northeast Division. The victory makes Youngstown the only team in the CHL without a loss in regulation.
The Hounds stay on the road and visit the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Sunday afternoon with a 5:05 start. All the action is available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
