Hot Rods Host Launch of New National Health Program

Bowling Green, KY - In conjunction with the Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE), the Bowling Green Hot Rods are hosting the national launch of a new health program. On Sunday, June 26, as the team celebrates kindergarten graduates in South Central Kentucky, ACE will introduce the country to Heroes of the Health League, a program aimed at teaching young children about two important health issues.

"We are honored that ACE has chosen the Hot Rods and Bowling Green, Kentucky as the launch pad for this new program," said John Willi, Vice President of the Hot Rods ownership group, DSF Sports. "This important initiative is relevant to children of all ages, especially the recent kindergarten graduates we will honor on June 26."

The new program - Heroes of the Health League - is working to teach children about two important health issues - poison control and disease prevention. ACE will launch its new program and website at the June 26th game while creating fun avenues to introduce their message to the kids at the game.

During the game, kids will be able to participate in an online game travelling through a virtual house spotting health hazards ranging from improperly stored chemicals to hand-washing stations. The kids will create the first league of Health Heroes to fight germs and poisons in the virtual house, all with the goal to remind kids about these health hazards in their own homes. After completing the game, kids can join the Heroes of the Health League by designing their own Heroes badges. Real heroes from local law enforcement will also join in the festivities.

Gates will open one our prior to the game on June 26th with first pitch at 2:05 PM. All recent kindergarten graduates get into the game free while parents and families will have the opportunity to purchase specially-priced tickets to experience the game and learn about the Heroes of the Health League with their children. The Hot Rods return home for their first series of the second half on Friday, June 24 against the Dayton Dragons, Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
