Hot Rods Fall 6-4 to Lansing Lugnuts

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell 6-4 to the Lansing Lugnuts in game one of a three game set. The win for Lansing pushed them into a statistical tie with the Hot Rods for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

The Lugnuts scored first in the very first inning when 2B Chavez Taylor lead off with a triple and scored on a groundball to short. The Lugnuts added on two more runs in the top of the third thanks to a two run home run from 3B Cullen Large. Lansing got their fourth run of the game in the fourth when 1B Yeltsin Gudino scored on a sac fly and the Lugnuts had a 4-0 lead.

RHP Tobias Myers got the start for the Hot Rods and went four innings allowing five hits, four runs, three walks and two strikeouts. RHP Orlando Romero was next out of the pen throwing three innings and only allowed one hit and one walk while striking out five.

The Hot Rods managed to tie up the game in the bottom of the seventh inning that started with a lead-off single from DH Chris Betts. CF Carl Chester hit a one out RBI double to get Bowling Green on the board. 2B Vidal Brujan scored two with a single and SS Taylor Walls scored on a wild pitch and it was a tie ballgame. 3B Zach Rutherford was called out at home on the same play, and manager Craig Albernaz was ejected arguing.

The Lugnuts took the lead right back in the eighth thanks to a double from 2B Samad Taylor who came around to score on a single from DH Norberto Obeso. They added another run on in the ninth thanks to an RBI double from RF Chavez Young to make the game 6-4.

The Lugnuts and Hot Rods meet again tomorrow night at 6:35pm. LHP Josh Fleming (2-0, 1.17) gets the starts for the Hot Rods, and RHP Colton Laws (1-2, 6.91) gets the start for the Lugnuts.
