Alex Kirilloff Named MWL Player of the Month for May

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Midwest League and Minor League Baseball announced today that Kernels outfielder Alex Kirilloff has been named the Midwest League Player of the month for May. Minor League Baseball selected winners for each of the 10 full season leagues for the month of May and each winner will receive an award from Minor League Baseball in recognition of the honor.

In 31 games this month, Kirilloff hit .360 and led the MWL in hits (41), RBI (25) and total bases (73). He also had 19 extra base hits, three triples, 11 doubles, a .640 slugging percentage and a 1.063 OBPS. He was selected by the Twins in the first round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Plum (PA) HS.

Kirilloff joins Lansing RHP Yennsy Diaz, who was named the MWL Player of the Month for April.

The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, June 5th to host Beloit in a five-game, three-day series that continues through Thursday, June 7th.
