Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Appleton, WI - In the series finale of a three-game set at Neuroscience Group Field on Thursday, the Bowling Green Hot Rods lost to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 10 innings by a score of 5-4.

After the Hot Rods pitchers combined for a shutout the previous night, a pitchers duel ensued between Bowling Green starter Brock Burke and Wisconsin starter Trey Supak.

Against Supak, the Hot Rods scored one run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly from outfielder Joshua Lowe to go up 1-0. During his five innings of work, Supac gave up just two hits and struck out a career-high nine batters.

For Burke, his only blemish was a RBI double by Timber Rattlers catcher Mario Feliciano in the third inning to tie up the game at one. The 20-year-old lefty threw five innings, giving up four hits while tying a season-high with seven strikeouts.

Through five starts this year, Burke has given up just three runs in 26.0 innings pitched. He is 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA after the no-decision.

The game remained tied 1-1 until the eighth innings when the Timber Rattlers loaded the bases against Hot Rods righty Elias Torres. With two outs, third basemen ripped a triple to clear the bases and give Wisconsin a 4-1 lead.

However, the Hot Rods returned the favor in the top of the ninth inning to send the game to extras. With four straight singles to start the frame against Luke Barker, Bowling Green got a RBI single by third basemen Adrian Rondon and a pair of bases loaded walks drawn by Lowe and shortstop Lucius Fox to even things up.

Unfortunately, Bowling Green was unable to complete the comeback in extras.

Wisconsin, aided by two errors by Bowling Green, won the game on a walkoff in the bottom of the tenth when outfielder Joantgel Segovia singled against Spencer Jones (L, 0-2) to plate Tucker Neuhaus to win the game.

For Bowling Green, the loss marked their second series defeat against Wisconsin since the two teams started playing each other in 2010 and first since 2012.

The Hot Rods continue their roadtrip in Wisconsin on Friday with the first of three games against the Beloit Snappers. Bowling Green will send LHP Travis Ott to the mound to try to win the series while the Snappers will counter with a pitcher that is yet to be determined.

First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. central time in Beloit.
