Theroux, Nowlin Bring the Power in Wednesday's 9-2 Win
Beloit 9 Dayton 2 - Wednesday
WP: Bailey (1-1)
LP: Santillan (1-2)
S: None
Time: 2:53
Attn: 203
The Snappers used a pair of home runs and made the Dayton Dragons pay for their aggressive baserunning style on Wednesday night to pull the series even at one game apiece. Beloit is now 10-0 when they score at least five runs in a game while improving to 6-1 in contests that they hit multiple home runs.
Beloit went three games without a home run and trailed 1-0 until catcher Collin Theroux hit a three-run home run to left field in the second to put the Snappers ahead of Dayton for good, his fourth homer of the year. Kyle Nowlin belted his third homer of the season in the eighth, his third hit of the night. Theroux finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBI while Nowlin had a three-hit performance with three more driven in.
Dayton once again attempted to take extra bases throughout the game, but the Snappers defense held tough and gunned down five Dragons on the base paths. Cole Gruber had a pair of outfield assists while Theroux added a pickoff and caught stealing from behind the plate.
Nate Mondou walked in the first inning to push his on-base streak to 19 games. He would extend his hitting streak nine games on a fifth-inning single, the longest hitting streak by a Beloit hitter this year. Trace Loehr added a pair of hits from the leadoff position, his sixth multi-hit game over his last eight played.
