Hot Hitters Keep the Team Afloat

Oconomowoc, Wis. - After the close loss last night, the DockHounds fell in game two of the series against the Monarchs on Saturday night by a score of 7-3. Augie Voight started on the mound for Lake Country, making the first start of his professional career. Despite taking the loss, Voight ended the night with a solid stat line. In 4.2 innings of work, the righty allowed 5 hits and 2 runs (2 earned), walking two and striking out 3.

After the longest outing in his professional career, Voight turned the ball over to the bullpen. Alex McRae, Carlos Diaz and Brady Kais worked the final 4.2 innings out of the pen for Lake Country.

For the Monarchs, Cody Deason got the start and went 5.2 innings, keeping the DockHounds offense at bay. The righty went the first 5.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs (3 earned), walking 1 and striking out 9. Grant Gavin, Trey Jeans and Matt Hartman came out of the bullpen to work the final 3.1 innings for Kansas City.

Offensively for the DockHounds, Nick Banks hit two homers tonight, a two-run shot in the 3rd and a solo homer in the 6th. Jaxx Groshans continued his hot hitting, with a 2-4 day at the plate. Marcus Chiu extended his hitting streak to 8 games with a 2B in the 6th.

The DockHounds will look to avoid the sweep as they take the field for game three of the series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. from Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.
