Eastlake, Ohio - Three unearned runs in the third inning were enough to snap Greensboro's six-game losing funk Wednesday as the Hoppers garnered a 3-2 win on the road against the South Atlantic League's Northern Division-leading Lake County Captains.

Lake County (16-9) starting pitcher Chris Archer walked the first two batters he faced in the third inning and after getting two out, hit Greensboro's Ryan Anetsberger with a pitch to load the bases with Ben Lasater coming to the plate. Lasater belted a ball to the wall in right field where Lake County's Mark Thompson dropped the ball and was credited with a fielding error allowing the bases to clear and give the Hoppers a 3-0 lead.

Brett Durand countered on the mound for the Hoppers and gave up both Lake County runs on five hits in 5.0 innings of work to improve to 3-0 on the season; only one runs was earned. Durand gave way to the Hoppers bullpen in the sixth and Don Czyz, Corey Madden and Garrett Parcell combined to pitch four shutout innings. Czyz and Madden were credited with holds and Parcell picked up his team-leading sixth save of the season.

The win for the Hoppers came on just one hit, Anetsberger's fifth-inning double to right field, and snapped a six-game losing streak to improve Greensboro to 4-2 in day games this season and 8-4 on the road.

Greensboro's win gives the Hoppers a one-game lead in the all-time series against the Captains and pulls them back within three games of division-leading Lake County. With Hickory and Delmarva still to play tonight, Greensboro sits in a second-place tie in the SAL Northern Division.

The Grasshoppers continues their eight-game road trip Thursday with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Captains at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio. Greensboro will send RHP Cristhian Martinez to the mound (2-1, 4.18) to battle Lake County's LHP Ryan Miller (4-0, 0.82).

Greensboro returns home May 8 to take on the same Lake County Captains in a four-game set as part of an eight-game homestand. The homestand includes two Thirsty Thursday's, two post-game fireworks shows, Reggy "The Purple Party Dude", Babe's Bark in the Park night and much more.
