Augusta Wins to Snap Five Game Skid

Charleston, SC - The Augusta GreenJackets (12-15) snapped their five game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Charleston RiverDogs (20-6) Wednesday night. Joe Paterson picked up the win in relief and Augusta got both of its runs with two outs.

Paterson (3-1) worked 2.1 innings and allowed one run on one hit while walking three and striking out four.

Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out RBI single from Thomas Neal, his team leading 17 RBI of the season. Ramon Corona scored on the play after drawing a one out walk.

The GreenJackets made it 2-0 in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI triple from Shane Jordan. James Simmons scored after he connected for a two-out double.

Charleston got its one run in the seventh inning on a two-out RBI single from Dave Williams.

Oliver Odle picked up the save for Augusta working the final 2.2 scoreless innings, his fourth save of the season. Odle allowed four hits, no walks and struck out four.

In the ninth inning Odle allowed a base hit then a double to put runners on second and third with no outs. The right-hander was able to get the next two batters two strike out then the final batter to ground out to end the game.

Augusta starter Madison Bumgarner recorded the no-decision working four scoreless innings and allowing three hits. The lefty also walked three and struck out five.

The GreenJackets and RiverDogs continue their series on Thursday night with Augusta sending right-hander T.J. Brewer (1-2, 5.06) to the mound. The RiverDogs counter with right-hander Lance Pendleton (1-1, 3.29). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
