Hoorelbeke tabbed Northern League Player of the Month

FARGO, N.D. - RedHawks first basemen Jesse Hoorelbeke has been named the Northern League's Rawlings Player of the Month for the month of July, league officials announced today.

In 25 games Hoorelbeke hit for a .385 batting average with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs. He led all Northern League batters in hits (40), doubles (12), RBIs (29) and slugging percentage (.788) and tied for the league lead in home runs.

During July Hoorelbeke posted 14 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games, raising his batting average from .310 to .341. Currently Hoorelbeke leads the Northern League in total home runs (19), slugging percentage (.668) and extra-base hits (44). Hoorelbeke was previously honored by the Northern League when he was named the Player of the Week for the week of June 12-18 after tying a Northern League record after hitting four home runs in game against Edmonton at Newman Outdoor Field on June 18.

Fargo-Moorhead opens a three-game series with the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Friday at CanWest Global Park. Currently this season the RedHawks are 7-9 against the Goldeyes and will need to sweep the series to stake claim to the Moosehead Cup.
