Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
FARGO, ND - One home run milestone down for Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 1B Jesse Hoorelbeke, one to go.
Hoorelbeke became independent baseball's all-time home run leader on Tuesday night with his solo home run against the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park in Lincoln. It was his 146th home run in independent baseball, surpassing the career total of 145 hit by Jorge Alvarez, who played 16 seasons of independent baseball from 1995-2010.
Hoorelbeke began his independent career with Fargo-Moorhead in 2006 and clubbed 21 home runs in 74 games before his contract was purchased by the Chicago Cubs. He played three seasons with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League from 2007-2009, where he drilled 84 more home runs. Hoorelbeke returned to the RedHawks in 2010 and slugged 29 homers. Tuesday's home run was his 12th for the RedHawks this season.
Hoorelbeke currently has 62 career home runs with the RedHawks and is just three long-balls away from breaking Darryl Motley's career record with the club. Motley hit 64 home runs for Fargo-Moorhead from 1996-1999.
REDHAWKS SIGN HARTLEY; WARD PLACED ON DL
