Lincoln 4, Fargo-Moorhead 0
In front of a crowd of 5,074 at their home field of Haymarket Park, the Lincoln Saltdogs scored three runs in the sixth inning and one in the bottom of seventh to propel them to a 4-0 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. With the game still scoreless through five innings, Lincoln 3B Curt Smith provided the big break-through when he belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning. Smith finished with a team-high three RBIs and a team-high two hits in the ballgame. First baseman Phil Hawke singled in a run in the bottom of the seventh to extend Lincoln's lead to four runs. Saltdogs starting pitcher Tim Brown scattered 10 hits but conceded zero runs in seven innings pitched to earn the win.
Grand Prairie 3, Kansas City 0
Grand Prairie starting pitcher Lance Janke and closer Jon Hunton combined for a six-hit shutout as the AirHogs defeated the Kansas City T-Bones by a score of 3-0. Janke scattered five hits in his eight innings pitched to earn the win. Hunton worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save, allowing one hit and striking out one batter. With the game still scoreless through four innings, AirHogs LF David Thomas broke the deadlock with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. Grand Prairie added two insurance runs in the eighth inning, courtesy of 2B David Espinosa's RBI triple and 1B John Alonso's RBI sacrifice fly to cement the win for Grand Prairie.
Sioux Falls 3, Winnipeg 2
Sioux Falls Pheasants starting pitcher Chris Salberg tossed seven strong innings to help the Pheasants edge the Winnipeg Goldeyes 3-2. Salberg allowed just one run on three hits while striking out two to earn the win. Pheasants reliever Aaron Cotter conceded a run in the ninth but still retired the side to earn the save. At the plate, Sioux Falls CF Reggie Abercrombie went 1-for-4 with an RBI and 3B Kevin Carby also went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Winnipeg 2B Price Kendall went 3-for-5 with an RBI in a losing effort.
Shreveport-Bossier 12, Fort Worth 3
Captains 1B Andres Rodriguez homered twice and batted in seven runs to lead Shreveport-Bossier to a 12-3 win over the Fort Worth Cats. Rodriguez went 4-for-5 at the plate in the game, including a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, and a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. Rodriguez doubled in two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to complete his tally. Also for the Captains, CF Robert Perry went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Captains starting pitcher Alex Kaminsky earned the win, tossing seven innings and allowing one run on six hits. Cats RF Marcos Rodriguez had two hits and two RBIs in a losing effort.
El Paso 6, Amarillo 4
The visiting El Paso Diablos defeated the Amarillo Sox 6-4. Diablos SS Maikol Gonzalez and LF Brian Joynt led El Paso with two RBIs apiece. Joynt went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, and Gonzalez had two singles in the game. El Paso DH Uriak Marquez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Starting pitcher Reymond Cruz earned the win for the Diablos by pitching 6.1 innings. Cruz allowed four earned runs on four hits while striking out four hitters. Diablos reliever Reyes Dorado pitched two scoreless innings to earn the save. Amarillo 1B Lee Cruz had a home run and two RBIs in a losing effort.
Wichita 8, St. Paul 2
Wichita LF Josh Workman and C Edwin Bellorin each had three RBIs to help lead the Wingnuts to an 8-2 victory over the St. Paul Saints. Workman went 2-for-3 with a home run, and Bellorin went 2-for-4 with a double. Third baseman Juan Richardson also batted in a run for Wichita. Wingnuts starting pitcher Junior Guerra pitched 7.2 innings to earn the win. Guerra allowed two runs on five hits while striking out six batters. For the Saints, C Richard Mercado went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.
Sioux City 10, Gary SouthShore 9
Sioux City used a six-run second inning to edge the visiting Gary SouthShore RailCats 10-9. Explorers 3B Wally Backman led Sioux City with four RBIs and went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Explorers 1B Kent Sakamoto and C Ray Serrano each batted in two runs for Sioux City, including a home run for Serrano. Sioux City relief pitcher Eddie Delacruz pitched 2.1 innings and was credited with the win. Emiliano Fruto worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save for Sioux City. For the RailCats, LF Adam Klein went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored in a losing effort.
