Hooks' Snodgrass Headed to Bigs

August 27, 2009 - Texas League (TL1)
Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Jamey Snodgrass, original equipment with the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2005, is getting a call to the Mother Ship... in this case MinuteMaidPark.

He will join the Astros at the conclusion of Corpus Christi's season, scheduled to end on Labor Day.

"I am very excited about going to Houston," Snodgrass said. "It is every minor leaguer's dream to make it to the big leagues. I have been fortunate to work some major league spring training games but I am sure those cannot compare to being in the dugout for a regular-season game.

"I am extremely grateful to the Astros for inviting me and look forward to helping out in any way possible."

Snodgrass is the only person to have witnessed all 696 Hooks games in the team's five-year history. He joins eight other current full-time staff members who've worked five full seasons: president Ken Schrom, general manager Michael Wood, director of sponsor services Elisa Macias, retail director Brooke Milam, controller Christy Lockard, field superintendent Garrett Reddehase, broadcaster Matt Hicks and maintenance worker Mike Shedd.

Snodgrass, a graduate of MountUnionCollege in Alliance, Ohio, is completing his seventh season as athletic trainer for the Astros Double-A affiliate. In 10 previous years of working in professional baseball - all in the Astros system - he's been named Trainer of the Year in his league on three occasions (Midwest 2; Texas 1). Snodgrass served the Auburn, Michigan and Round Rock clubs before moving to Corpus Christi.
