
Missions LHP Cory Luebke Named to Team USA for World Cup

SAN ANTONIO - USA Baseball announced Thursday that Missions left-handed pitcher Cory Luebke will be among the 23 players who will represent the United States at the 2009 International Baseball Federation (IBAF) Baseball World Cup in Europe from September 9-27. The roster includes five current and six former Texas League players.
Luebke, 24, is 3-2 with a 2.58 ERA (11 ER/38.1 IP) in eight starts with the Missions this season. He was promoted June 25th from Lake Elsinore after going 8-2 with a California League-leading 2.34 ERA (23 ER/88.1 IP) in 14 starts with the storm. He has struck out 110 while walking just 29 overall this season.
The other current Texas League members selected are catchers Jason Castro (Corpus Christi) and Mike McKenry (Tulsa), and left-handed pitchers Kasey Kiker (Frisco) and Trevor Reckling (Arkansas).
