Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Hooks extended their winning-streak to a season-high five games Thursday, capping a four-game sweep of Frisco with a 2-1 victory at Whataburger Field.

Tyler Ivey and Enoli Paredes combined to shut down Frisco's offense, allowing just four hits and three walks while fanning 11. Ivey (W, 4-0) struck out five on three hits with five punchouts. The lone damage came via a Chuck Moorman home run (3) in the fifth inning.

Paredes surrendered just one hit in his 3.2 innings in tandem relief, picking up his first save at Double-A. He struck out six in the win.

Colton Shaver and Jake Adams provided enough offense for Corpus Christi. With the bases full against in the third against Collin Wiles, Shaver floated a ball to left-center that scored Jake Meyers. Adams followed with a line drive to right that brought home Stephen Wrenn before Shaver was thrown out at third. It gave the Hooks a 2-0 lead that would not be matched.

Adams' RBI single gave him hits and RBIs in five consecutive games. Shaver was 1-for-1 with a pair of walks.

The Hooks begin a crucial three-game set against the Midland RockHounds Friday with top Astros pitching prospect Forrest Whitley (0-1, 4.70). James Naile (6-7, 5.95) goes for the Hounds. All fans in attendance for the 7:15 p.m. tilt will receive an Astros Jose Altuve Sliding Bobblehead, courtesy of RBFCU.
