CORPUS CHRISTI - For the third time this season, the Hooks swept both games of a doubleheader. Thursday night, Corpus Christi shutting out Frisco by scores of 2-0 and 5-0 in 7-inning contests. It seems the Hooks would echo the words of Mr. Cub, Ernie Banks, "Let's Play Two!"

Tropical Depression Bill may have postponed last night's contest, but Michael Feliz came out storming in the first game. Feliz, a member of the Astros 40-man roster and a Top 100 prospect according MLB.com, sat down the first 12 RoughRiders he faced before allowing a leadoff double to Nomar Mazara in the top of the fifth that was just out of the reach of a diving Andrew Aplin.

The Hooks (45-20) jumped on Frisco (27-37) early, scoring both of the game's runs on one swing. Roberto Pena's double in the left-center field gap plated Jon Kemmer and Jio Mier.

Feliz (1-1), who made his major league debut out of the Astros bullpen on May 31, earned his first Double-A win with 5 1/3 shutout innings, giving up just two hits, walking none and striking out four. Lefty Chris Cotton got the final five outs of the game, earning his first save of the season.

The night cap started in a similar fashion, with the Hooks picking up two runs on one swing in the second inning again. This time around, it was Kemmer launching a home run into the Hooks bullpen, driving in Mier to put Corpus Christi up 2-0.

The Hooks would add two more in the third. After a one-out Aplin single, Tyler White ripped an RBI double down the left field line. A wild pitch moved White to third and drew the infield in, which left plenty of room for Conrad Gregor's shot into right field to land, scoring White.

Frisco threatened to ruin southpaw starter Josh Hader's shutout in the fifth, loading the bases on a walk, hit by pitch and a single. With one out and two runners in scoring position, Mazara smoked the first pitch he saw, but was robbed by Mier who made an outstanding diving catch at shortstop to save at least a run. Hader recovered by striking out J.T. Wise to end the inning and end his night. Hader (2-3) went five shutout innings, allowing four hits, walking three and striking out six.

White added to his night in the sixth, driving a 1-0 pitch in the Hooks bullpen, giving him his second RBI of the game.

Juan Manaya and Travis Ballew each worked scoreless innings of relief to seal the second victory of the night for Corpus Christi.

The Hooks will look to secure a series win tomorrow night when they host the RoughRiders for the third game of this four-game series at Whataburger Field. Joe Musgrove (1-0, 1.29 ERA) will take the mound for the Hooks with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 5:35.
