San Antonio Missions News Release
Nate Long and Ryan Dull combined on a five-hitter as Midland defeated San Antonio 4-1 Friday night in front of a season-high Wolff Stadium crowd of 7,721.
Offense was at a premium Friday, with Ryon Healy's solo homer in the top of the first off San Antonio's Bryan Rodriguez the only run through the first five frames.
Long (5-4) limited San Antonio to just four hits in his seven innings. The right-hander's only mistake came in the sixth, when a wild pitch scored Taylor Lindsey from third to tie the game at one. Long ended up striking out four against just one walk.
Rodriguez was terrific in his six innings, allowing just the early run on three hits and one walk, while fanning four.
The RockHounds took advantage of Rodriguez's exit in the top of the seventh, retaking the lead at 2-1 on catcher Carson Blair's RBI ground-rule double to right off Adam Cimber.
In the top of the eighth, Midland put the game away against Cimber (2-2) courtesy of Chad Pinder's two-run double to center.
Dull took care of the rest of the game for the 'Hounds, allowing just one hit in his two innings to notch his sixth save.
San Antonio (29-37) wraps up its four-game series against Midland (34-33) Saturday with first pitch slated for 7:05 PM. Following the game there will be a special fireworks show courtesy of Bud Light. Elliot Morris (2-5, 4.62) will take the ball for the Missions, while the 'Hounds counter with fellow righty Tim Atherton (3-3, 6.04).
Notes: Former Missions' ace Matt Wisler was a winner in his Major League debut Friday as Atlanta edged New York 2-1 at Turner Field. Wisler allowed just one run on six hits and no walks, while striking out two Mets over eight brilliant innings.
