
Naturals Swept in Double-Header by Cardinals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The newly crowned First Half North Division Champions, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (39-28) dropped a double-header to the Springfield Cardinals (29-38) on Friday night at Hammons Field. The opening game of the twin bill went nine innings and as the Cardinals won 10-9 in a walk-off fashion and Springfield used a nine-run fourth inning en route to a 9-4 victory.
Game one saw MLB rehabber *Kris Medlen *worked his 4.0 innings with five strikeouts. The 29-year old right-hander allowed four hits, three runs (one earned) in his outing retiring the seven of the final eight batters he faced.
The Naturals used home runs in game one by *Raul Mondesi*, his fourth and *Jorge Bonifacio *hit his 12th homer. Six of the starting nine Naturals in the first game record two hits with Bonifacio driving in a team-best three RBI. Mondesi scored three of the Naturals nine runs in the game.
Game two, the Naturals jumped out to a 4-0 lead with *Hunter Dozier *doubling home Bonifacio in the first inning for the second run of the frame. In the fourth inning, Northwest Arkansas used the power of the double again with *Alex Liddi *and *Zane Evans *recording back-to-back doubles to highlight the two-run inning.
*Miguel Almonte *started the second game and worked 3.0 innings, allowed one run one two hits with five strikeouts in his no-decision effort.
Northwest Arkansas looks for a series split in the finale on Saturday night with right-hander *Christian Binford (1-2, 5.79) *taking the hill in search of his second straight win.
