South Bend Silver Hawks News Release


FORT WAYNE, INDIANA - The South Bend Silver Hawks (32-32) surrendered a season-high four home runs in a losing effort as the Fort Wayne TinCaps snagged a 9-2 victory at Parkview Field. The Silver Hawks road trip continues Tuesday with a three-game series against the Lake County Captains. The Hawks head into play Tuesday two games behind Bowling Green with six to play in the eastern division wildcard chase.

John Pedrotty (3-4) got the loss for South Bend, allowing six earned runs on six hits over three innings. The left- hander walked four in his shortest outing of the season. Cody Hebner (6-2) notched the win, hurling six scoreless innings of one-hit baseball. Hebner retired the final 17 batters he faced.

Yeison Asencio hit two home runs and knocked in three to pace the TinCaps. Tyler Stubblefield and Lee Orr also added long balls in a nine-hit offensive attack that featured eight extra base hits.

Gerson Montilla stroked two hits for the Silver Hawks and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Marc Bourgeois, Ender Inciarte and Chris Ellison each tallied single hits for the Silver Hawks.

Left-hander Keith Hessler worked three scoreless innings for the Silver Hawks out of the bullpen. Hessler struck out four and walked just two.

The Silver Hawks did not score a run until the seventh inning. Montilla started the rally with a leadoff double and scored on an error from Duanel Jones. South Bend added a run in the eighth inning on an RBI base hit from Chris Ellison.

Asencio's first home run was a two-run shot in the first inning off Pedrotty. The Silver Hawks never held a lead in the game. The TinCaps knocked Pedrotty out of the game with four runs in the third inning - Orr hit a solo blast while Jones and Jace Peterson added run-producing doubles.

D.J. Johnson worked the seventh inning for South Bend and allowed a solo home run to Asencio. Kable Hogben tossed the eighth inning and allowed a two-run home run to Stubblefield.

The Silver Hawks begin a three-game series with the Lake County Captains Tuesday at Classic Park. First pitch is on tap for 7:00 P.M. EST. Right-hander Jesse Darrah (5-2, 3.77) starts for South Bend and he will be opposed by left-hander Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.22).
