COMSTOCK PARK, MI - West Michigan Whitecaps' All-Star first baseman Jeff Holm has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the period of June 24-30, the league announced on Monday.

Holm, who is hitting a blistering .438 in the second half, batted .385 last week with a .484 on-base percentage and a .731 slugging percentage. His 10-for-26 stretch included two home runs, four extra-base hits, six runs scored and five RBI.

The 24-year-old is now batting .308 on the season and leading the Whitecaps with eight home runs and 54 RBI. Selected as the starting first baseman on the Eastern Division All-Star team, the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder has collected 26 extra-base hits this year while stealing 12 bases and leading all Midwest League first basemen with a .993 fielding percentage.

Holm was a 12th-round pick by the Detroit Tigers in the 2011 draft out of Michigan State, where he hit .346 over four years with the Spartans and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2011.

He joins LHP Jordan John, who was named the league's Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 27-June 2, as the second Whitecaps' player to be honored with a Midwest League weekly award this season.
