Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT, WI - Christopher Bostick went three-for-five with an RBI, scored twice and stole a base as the Beloit Snappers took care of the Burlington Bees by a score of 8-3 at Pohlman Field with a paid attendance of 552 on hand in Midwest League action on Monday evening.
This marks the fourth win in a row for the Snappers as they conclude a three-game series sweep and they stand at 52-29 (9-2 in the second half). The Bees' losing streak hits nine and their record is 27-49 (1-10 in the second half).
Burlington's Kevin Moesquit drove in the night's first run with a second inning double off Vince Voiro (5-2) that tallied an unearned run. That lead went to 2-0 one inning later when Pedro Toribio doubled, Anthony Bemboom singled and Andrew Ray hit a sacrifice fly.
Beloit's first run came in the form of a Bostick (3-5, RBI, 2 runs) RBI single in the bottom of third. Two frames later, Ryan Mathews and Aaron Shipman started a three-run rally against Pat Lowery (3-5). Mathews lined a lead-off single into left and Shipman drew a walk. Another knock, this one by Bostick, loaded the bases and Renato Nunez added the third hit of the bottom of the fifth to score Mathews. The next two hitters banged into force plays that each plated a run as the Snappers moved in front 4-2.
In the sixth inning, Chevy Clarke (2-3, RBI) drew the Bees to within 4-3 with a run-scoring single. The Snappers responded with a two spot in the seventh, denting home on an RBI single by Nunez and a bases loaded walk to Sam Roberts. Mathews got the offense going again in the eight when he led-off with a double. Four batters later, with men on second and third and two outs, Matt Olson blooped a two-run single into left-center, which closed out the scoring.
David Mota came out of the Beloit bullpen in the seventh and shutout Burlington for two innings before Chris Lamb entered to pitch the ninth. Lamb finished the night with a scoreless inning.
The Snappers will put their win streak on the line on Tuesday night in a 7:00pm game against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Pohlman Field. The first of two between the squads features a pitching match-up of Beloit's RHP Deyvi Jimenez (0-0, 18.00 ERA) and Cedar Rapids' RHP Jose Berrios (5-3, 3.09 ERA). All college students can have a blast at the ballpark on College and Dollar Night. A current college student ID buys you a general admission ticket for just $1.
