Burlington Bees News Release

The Beloit Snappers defeated the Burlington Bees 8-3 on Monday evening at Pohlman Field.

It was a rough June for the Burlington Bees (27-49, 1-10), but the start of July did not help the Bees in a loss to the Beloit Snappers (52-29, 9-2). The Bees have now lost nine consecutive games in the second half.

The offense helped Burlington get out to an early 2-0 lead. Kevin Moesquit's double scored Chance Ross to put the Bees on the board in the second. One inning later, Andrew Ray's sacrifice fly scored Pedro Toribio.

Beloit came crawling back, scoring one run in the third on a single by Christopher Bostick that scored Ryan Mathews and three runs in the fifth on a single by Renato Nunez and two fielder's choice groundouts.

Chevy Clarke doubled home Exicardo Cayones to pull Burlington within one run, but the Snappers scored two in the seventh and two in the eighth to pull away with the win.

Pat Lowery (3-5) picked up the loss, surrendering four runs in five innings, while Vince Voiro (5-2) earned the win after delivering a season-high six innings.

The Bees will return home for two games against the Peoria Chiefs. Tuesday's contest will feature Tyler DeLoach and Cory Jones, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Community Field.
