Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced two roster moves today.
RHP Mark Holliman's contract has been purchased by the Boston Red Sox and he has been assigned to the Salem Red Sox of the Advanced Single-A Carolina League. In eight starts this season with the Goldeyes, Holliman was 4-1 with a 2.02 ERA. He leaves Winnipeg leading the Northern League in strikeouts with 47 and is third in the league in ERA. Opposing batters were hitting just .227 against him. His last start was Saturday night against the Rockford RiverHawks when he went six innings in a 7-3 win.
The other move today sees infielder Jeremy Hamilton traded to the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League for future considerations. Hamilton batted .244 in 30 games with Winnipeg this season.
The Goldeyes have 21 players on their active roster, including 11 pitchers and 10 position players. Winnipeg opens a 10-game road trip tonight in Kenosha, Wis. against the Lake County Fielders.
