
Holiday On Ice Print Goes On Sale Wednesday

Brandon, Manitoba -- Members of the Wheat Kings as well as their many western Manitoba fans will take a breather this Wednesday night at Westman Communications Group Place when the defending champion Medicine Hat Tigers pay a visit to Brandon.
The Lung Association will be at Wednesday night's game, to officially launch the sale of their 2007 Christmas Seal Limited Edition Print campaign to raise money for programs that improve lung health.
A portion of the sales from each print - "Holiday on Ice" - by artist Shirley Deaville features a group of youngsters preparing for a game of shinny on a local creek. One of the youngsters is seen wearing a Wheat Kings' jersey.
"I think it is very important for asthmatics, especially young children, to see strong and vibrant hockey players, not letting asthma limit their ability to be great athletes." says Joy Letkemann, Executive Director of the Lung Association, Manitoba. "We hope this print will remind everyone of the importance of continuing the fight against lung disease and capture the spirit of a partnership between the Lung Association and the Wheat Kings."
Six million Canadians including several former Wheat Kings suffer from lung diseases, including asthma, lung cancer and COPD.
Fans attending Wednesday's game will have the opportunity to purchase the limited edition print as representatives of the Lung Association will be set up next to BDO Dunwoody Fan Services, inside the east main entrance to Westman Place. This beautiful print is personally signed and numbered by the artist and may be ordered framed in a beautiful black frame and black mat or unframed. The size of the framed print is 25" x 29" while the unframed image is 16" x 20".
About the Artist: The integrity of Shirley Deaville's work has brought growing recognition and the respect and enthusiasm of collectors nationwide. She started painting hockey images when here grandchildren started playing hockey. The paintings sold so well, she continued painting hockey scenes. "I was out on a frozen pond in the dead of winter taking pictures to remarkably capture this image on canvas called "Holiday on Ice".

The Wheat Kings enter Wednesday's game, sitting in third place in the WHL's Eastern Division with a record of 15-9-0-1, good for 31 points - one behind both Swift Current and Regina. Winners of four of their last six games, the Wheat Kings will be putting a 5-game home ice winning streak on the line against the Tigers.
