Hogs set club mark with 11-game unbeaten streak

The first week of 2006 has come and gone and the Rockford IceHogs continued their winning ways extending their club-record unbeaten streak to 11-games. Rockford hits the road for a pair of road games during Week 13 in Kalamazoo and Quad City.

Wednesday, January 4: Quad City Mallards 3 vs. Rockford IceHogs 2 (SO)

Friday, January 6: Quad City Mallards 4 vs. Rockford IceHogs 5

Saturday, January 7: Missouri River Otters 2 vs. Rockford IceHogs 4

Sunday, January 8: Rockford IceHogs 1 at Quad City Mallards 2 (SO)

Transactions

-Winger Robin Big Snake was placed on League Suspension on Sunday, Jan. 8.

-Winger Rob Voltera was placed on the 7-Day Injured reserve on Sunday, Jan. 8.

-Defenseman Matt Gens was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) on Saturday, Jan. 7.

-Defenseman Joe Markusen was activated from the 14-Day Injured Reserve on Saturday, Jan. 7

-Winger Paul Falco was traded to the Missouri River Otters for future considerations on Friday, Jan. 6

-Winger Rob Voltera was activated from Team Suspension on Friday, Jan. 6.

-Winger Greg Barber was activated from the 7-Day Injured Reserve on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Bacon Bits:

The Hogs are currently riding a club-record 11-game unbeaten streak (7-0-4) dating back to Dec. 16.

IceHogs winger Jason Notermann had a six-game point streak end on Sunday. During his hot stretch, Notermann had 2g-4a-6pts.

Rockford has lost four straight shootouts and are 2-for-20 during that stretch with their shootout attempts.

The Hogs faced a club-record 12 short-handed situations on Sunday against Quad City. During the second period, despite committing only three penalties for six minutes, Rockford faced seven Quad City power plays.

The Mallards went 1-for-12 against the league's top penalty kill.

Both Hogs goalies Michel Robinson (.925-1st) and Ronnie Vogel (.916-5th) rank in the top five in save percentage among all UHL goalies.

Vogel has the UHL's best winning percentage with a record of 14-1-3 (.912).

Rookie winger Robin Big Snake set a club rookie record for penalty minutes in a season with 204, breaking Ernie Thorp's mark of 190 set in 2001-02.

The Hogs finished their season long six-game homestand 5-0-1.

Rockford has a league best home record of 18-2-2.

Every skater currently on the IceHogs active roster features a plus/minus rating of even or better.

Hot Hog Week 12:

The most consistent IceHogs scorer over the past 10 games is center Preston Mizzi, and during Week 12, it was no different. Mizzi notched 2g-4a-6pts in the Hogs four-game week. Mizzi currently is tied for the team lead with 16 goals.

Upcoming Games:

Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Kalamazoo WIngs. Game time is 6 p.m. The Hogs travel back to Kalamazoo to take on the Wings. The game is the second in K-zoo and fourth of five overall this season. The Hogs will look to avenge a 7-0 defeat from their last visit to Kalamazoo.

Sunday, Jan. 15 at Quad City Mallards. The game starts at 1 p.m. Another contest with the Hogs' Western Division rival. The Hogs and Mallards will drop the puck for the fourth time in just over a week.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, WNTA-AM 1330. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log on to the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. New to the network this season is ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM. The Jock will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 20 minutes before the puck drops. Make sure to give your opinion during the 10th Inning Bar and Grill Post-Game Call-In Show following each home game at (815) 874-8255.

The Rockford IceHogs would like to extend an apology to all the Hogs fans who have tried to listen or view the broadcast on icehogs.com through the B2 Networks when the team is in Fort Wayne. The Komets have chosen not to adhere to league rules and do not have B2 Network access in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at this time. IceHogs fans can catch all the Hogs games, home and away via broadcast and video through the B2 Network on icehogs.com all season, with the exception of the games played in Fort Wayne. The UHL is currently addressing the situation in Fort Wayne and we will let you know if anything changes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have created.

HogTalk Returns Tonight At Shooter's North:

HogTalk returns tonight at Shooter's North located at 7742 Forest Hills Road in Loves Park from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T and features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson each Monday. Also this week, Rob Voltera and Joe Markusen will be there to talk Hogs hockey and meet fans.
