
Jackals put together winning streak

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO --- The United Hockey League (UHL) season has not gotten off to a great start for the Elmira Jackals, but a current four-game winning streak has breathed new life into the squad. Five of their 11 wins this season have come during their last seven games. The Jackals have pulled into a tie with the Richmond RiverDogs and are just one point behind the Roanoke Valley Vipers in the Eastern Division standings. Elmira won their last four games despite converting on just 1 of 26 power play opportunities (3.8%) and allowing 5 of 23 to their opponents (21.7%).
Elmira is no stranger to close contests as nine of their last 12 games have been decided by just one goal, including five of those games going to the shootout. Overall, 21 of their 35 games this season have been decided by a single goal.
Head coach Perry Florio is in his first season behind the Elmira bench and has relied heavily on a pair of rookies for offense. Center Chris Chaput leads the team with 34 points (12g, 22a) and left wing Jarrett Konkle is second with 31 points (20g, 11a).
KOMETS SET NEW SHUTOUT MARK - The Fort Wayne Komets set a new UHL record for longest shutout streak at 189:27 minutes, eclipsing the mark of 189:01 they set during the 2003-04 season. Fort Wayne held Kalamazoo scoreless in the final 1:55 of their contest on December 30th, 2005, then recorded three consecutive shutouts; 6-0 vs. Roanoke on 12/31/05, 4-0 vs. Port Huron on 1/6/06, 3-0 vs. Quad City on 1/7/06. The Danbury Trashers scored at 7:32 into Sunday's contest to snap the streak, but not before the Komets set the new UHL record. Kevin St. Pierre and Kevin Kurk both spent time in the net for the team during the streak. Kurk notched his first career shutout in Friday's 4-0 win vs. Port Huron. Kevin St. Pierre collected his 17th UHL shutout in Saturday's 3-0 win vs. Quad City. St. Pierre is the UHL all-time leader in career shutouts.
ICEHOGS UNBEATEN IN LAST 11 - The Rockford IceHogs have not lost in regulation during their last 11 games (7-0-4) setting a team record. The team also has not lost in regulation on home ice in their last eight games (7-0-1) at the Rockford MetroCentre. They completed a recent six-game homestand with a 5-0-1 record to push their league leading home record to 18-2-2 this season.

Adirondack Frostbite - (0-2-1) - Adirondack scored just one goal in each of its three games during the week... Defenseman Josh Mizerek scored his first goal of the season in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Muskegon...The Frostbite's streak of six games with at least one power play goal ended on Sunday...With right wing Kevin Watters being called up to Binghamton on Sunday, the Frostbite have now had four players earn AHL call-ups this season.
Danbury Trashers - (1-2-1) - Defenseman Dave MacIsaac has scored a goal in three straight games and in five of the last six...Danbury's seven goals on Sunday vs. Fort Wayne equaled their season high...Forward Jeff Daw has 14 assists over his last nine games...Forward Alex Goupil's goal on Wednesday snapped his 11-game drought without a goal. He added another goal on Sunday...Center Drew Omicioli's snapped his seven-game drought without a goal when he netted a pair of goals on Sunday.
Elmira Jackals - (3-0-0) - The Jackals have won their last four games. Their longest streak since last season... Elmira have overcome deficits in two of their last four victories...Elmira is in the midst of a seven-game homestand. They have won three of their last four at home and have a 5-8-1 record this season on home ice...Center Chris Chaput is tied for first among UHL rookies with 22 assists...Left wing Jarrett Konkle leads UHL rookies with nine power play goals.
Flint Generals - (2-1-0) - Flint overcame first period deficits on both Friday and Saturday to post victories. They trailed Missouri 2-0 on Friday after 20 minutes and Danbury 3-0 after one period of play on Saturday...Flint recorded a 5-4 shootout victory on Saturday despite being out-shot by Danbury 39-21...The Generals have won their last three home games.
Fort Wayne Komets - (2-1-0) - The Komets are 11-4-0 in their last 15 games...Fort Wayne is undefeated when leading after two periods this season (13-0-0)...Saturday's 3-0 shutout of Quad City marked the fifth consecutive game that Fort Wayne played which ended in a shutout. The Komets were shutout in back-to-back games and then went on to shutout opponents in three straight games...Fort Wayne set a new team record on Sunday when they killed off their 39th consecutive opponent power play.
Kalamazoo Wings - (2-1-0) - Center Tyler Rennette is riding a nine-game point streak...Center Kory Karlander has seven points over his last four games...Mark Reeds will coach his 700th career game on Wednesday...Kalamazoo leads the UHL with 2.34 goals allowed per game...The K-Wings have outscored their opponents 52-21 in the first period this season...Kalamazoo had their five-game road winning streak snapped in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Roanoke...Kalamazoo begins a five-game homestand this week.
Missouri River Otters - (1-2-0) - With a goal on Saturday vs. Rockford, winger Jim Duhart tied the team record with points in 14 straight games...Rookie goaltender Brenden Cuthbert earned his first professional victory when the River Otters defeated Port Huron 5-4 on Wednesday. He made 40 saves in the win, including 18 in the third period...Kevin Reiter is second among UHL goaltenders with a .759 shootout save percentage...Missouri ranks fifth in the UHL in penalty killing (84.8%).
Motor City Mechanics - (2-1-0) - Center Greg Bullock netted his 200th career goal on Saturday...Defenseman Mike Burgoyne recorded his first professional "hat trick" (3g) in Sunday's 7-5 victory vs. Flint. He had five points (3g, 2a), including the game-winning goal with 43 seconds remaining in the third period. His five points tied a team record...Burgoyne is riding a five-game point streak...Danton Cole earned his 200th career coaching victory on Sunday.
Muskegon Fury - (4-0-0) - The Fury won all four games on their road trip through the Eastern Division during the week. They have now won their last five road games...Muskegon is now 6-0-0 vs. Eastern Division opponents this season and 17-1-0 overall outside their division...The Fury outscored their opponents 21-8 during the four-game road trip...Goaltender Clayton Pool posted a 3-0-0 record during the trip. He made 94 saves and posted a 2.33 GAA and a .933 SPCT.
Port Huron Flags - (1-2-0) - Center Aaron Brand netted a "hat trick" (3g) in Saturday's 4-3 win vs. Motor City. All three goals were on the power play which equals a league game high this season...Saturday's win snapped a six-game losing streak and four-game home losing streak...Brand currently ranks sixth in scoring in the UHL with 42 points (15g, 27a).
Quad City Mallards - (2-2-0) - The Mallards snapped a five-game shootout losing streak on Wednesday when they defeated Rockford 3-2 in the shootout. They then won their second straight shootout when they defeated Rockford on Sunday 2-1 in the shootout...Goaltender Jason Tapp stopped all 10 shooters he faced in the shootout during the week...Defenseman Jason Jaworski scored his first goal as a Mallard on Wednesday. The goal tied the game and sent it to a shootout.
Richmond RiverDogs - (0-3-0) - Goaltender Mike D'Alessandro earned a call-up to Norfolk of the AHL during the weekend...Center Mike Oliveira scored his 20th goal of the season in Saturday's 4-1 loss to Muskegon. It is the third straight season that he has reached the 20-goal mark...Right wing Evgeny Lazarev tallied his first goal in a Richmond uniform since being acquired from Quad City earlier in the week.
Roanoke Valley Vipers - (1-2-0) - Goaltender Shawn Conschafter made his first appearance in net for Roanoke after spending a month on the injured list. He appeared in all three games during the week and made 37 saves in Saturday's 4-3 win vs. Kalamazoo...Left wing Jonathon Charette tallied an assist in his first game with the Vipers on Wednesday...Defenseman Erick Lajoie collected his first point as a Viper when he dished out an assist on Friday.
Rockford IceHogs - (2-0-2) - Winger Jason Notermann had his six-game point streak snapped in Sunday's 2-1 shootout loss to Quad City...Rockford has lost their last four shootouts and have converted just 2 of 20 in shootout attempts during that stretch...Winger Robin Big Snake has already eclipsed a Rockford rookie record with 204 penalty minutes in one season breaking the mark set by Ernie Thorp (190) in 2001-02...Each player on the current active roster has a plus/minus rating of even or higher.
