
Flint's Kinnie and Elmira's McIntosh earn weekly honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Flint Generals right wing Mike Kinnie has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Elmira Jackals goaltender Ryan McIntosh has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 8, 2006.
Kinnie completed the week with nine points (4g, 5a) and a plus-2 rating in three games played. It was his first hockey action in almost nine months after joining the Generals earlier in the week. In his season debut on Friday, he tallied two goals and two assists in the 5-4 victory vs. Missouri. He matched that the following evening with two goals and two assists in the 5-4 shootout victory vs. Danbury. He dished out an assist in Sunday's 7-5 loss to Motor City. The 23-year-old native of Shelby Township, Michigan is in his second season with the Flint Generals. He was named to the UHL All-Rookie Team during the 2004-05 season after compiling 81 points (37g, 44a) in 72 games played. Kinnie was also selected to the 2005 UHL All-Star Classic.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Adirondack defenseman Josh Mizerek, Danbury right wing Jean-Michel Daoust, Elmira left wing Kevin Cooper, Fort Wayne defenseman Guy Dupuis, Kalamazoo center Tyler Rennette, Missouri right wing Jim Duhart, Motor City defenseman Mike Burgoyne, Muskegon center Jeff Nelson, Port Huron center Aaron Brand, Quad City center Patrick Nadeau, Richmond center Mike Oliveira, Roanoke center Petr Jelinek, and Rockford center Preston Mizzi.
McIntosh finished the week with a 3-0-0 record, a 1.33 goals against average (GAA), and a .955 save percentage (SPCT). On Friday, he made 27 saves in regulation and stopped three of four attempts in the shootout during the 2-1 shootout win vs. Adirondack. The following night, he made 26 saves in the 2-1 victory vs. Adirondack. McIntosh made 32 saves vs. Richmond on Sunday to record his third victory in three consecutive nights as the Jackals defeated Richmond 4-2. The 29-year-old Calgary, Alberta native pushed his season record to 7-8-1. He is in his fifth UHL season and currently has a 3.21 GAA and a .901 SPCT.
