Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - In a dead heat with Phoenix and Stockton for the final two playoff spots, the Condors welcome the Victoria Salmon Kings and the Utah Grizzles to The Nest on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m. for both games.

Friday is Hockey Stick & Puck Giveaway. Let the Condors help you dominate the neighborhood in street hockey with your very own stick and puck! The 38-inch stick is great for pick-up games in your driveway, backyard or even your kitchen, (with your mom's permission of course). The first 2,000 fans, 12-and-under, will receive a plastic street hockey stick and puck, courtesy of KGET-TV 17 and the US Army.

Friday is also the final Kids Club Game of the season. All members of the Condors Kids Club receive free admission to the game, courtesy of Bright House Networks, the Bakersfield Californian and Wells Fargo Bank as well as free admission to the Flashco Kids Zone at every game.

During the first intermission on Friday, United States Army Major Brent Ivester will swear-in over a dozen recruits during the US Army Swearing-In Ceremony at center ice. Also, during the second intermission, one lucky fan will have the chance to shoot for a new Hummer, courtesy of the US Army. To sign up for the contest, visit the US Army table behind section 109.

The following night, on Saturday it's Country Music Jersey Off Our Backs Raffle and Auction, sponsored by Bright House Networks, KUZZ 107.9 and Bud Light. The specially-designed jerseys pay homage to Bakersfield's country music heritage. Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off after the game. Plus everyone in attendance has a chance to win one of five to be given away! All proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Valley Achievement Center, a non-profit organization that serves people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Incorporated into the logo crest is the Condor playing a signature Buck Owens' red, white and blue guitar perched atop a "Condorstown" sign with the Crystal Palace in the background and the image of Buck Owens. The actual sheet music to "The Street of Bakersfield" wraps around the bottom of the jersey. On the back is an image of the Black Board, the honky tonk where the Bakersfield sound got its start. Local street signs of Buck Owens Blvd. and Merle Haggard Dr. are also present.

Saturday is also a Condors Big Buddies Night. Approximately 1,000 local underprivileged children and youth from worthy non-profit organizations, who would not ordinarily be able to attend a Condors game, will receive free tickets to come and see the Condors in action, thanks to local businesses' generous participation. Saturday is also a Mercy & Memorial Hospitals and Diamond Technologies T.H.I.N.K. Night (Turn Hockey Into New Knowledge) - a program that awards students who meet academic goals with free Condors tickets. One student will also be drawn to win a new computer for their schools thanks to Diamond Technology!

Finally, Saturday's game is a Bright House Networks Family Night. Bright House Networks subscribers will receive $7.00 admission per person by presenting their cable bill to the Rabobank Arena Box Office.

Saturday's game will be televised live on Bright House Networks Channel 21, and re-aired Sunday at 7 p.m. Each televised game this season will be available to digital cable subscribers via Bakersfield On Demand (channel 300) beginning the Tuesday after the original air date.

Only one March Monday Madness game remains, so if you haven't joined in the madness this is your last chance! On Monday, March 31 it is Condors Blood Drive Night. All blood donors during the month of March can present the voucher they received from the Houchin Blood Bank and receive $1 admission to the game.

Madness! Now, 19 fans have received season tickets as part of the Mucho Season Ticket Giveaway! For every goal the Condors score during March Monday Madness games, one fan is randomly drawn to win a season ticket for the 2008-09 season. Also on Monday, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Colonel Claw'd magnet, the fifth and final magnet of the March Monday Madness Magnet Collectors Series. Finally, all Condors jerseys are 50% off on Monday nights in March!
