
RoadRunners Add Rookies Carter, Dmytruk

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the San Jose Sharks and the Worcester Sharks, have announced that forward Matt Carter and defenseman Rob Dmytruk have each agreed to terms on a standard player's contract.
Carter and Dmytruk are each expected to be in the line-up when the RoadRunners open a three-game series with the Alaska Aces at 8:15 p.m. tonight from Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
Carter, 20, just completed his overage year with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League where he tallied a team-leading 30 goals and 54 points in 61 games. The Mississauga, Ontario native registered a career-best 12 multiple-point games and finished second on the club in scoring. Carter recorded 82 goals, 83 assists, and 165 points in 177 games from 2003-08 in both the OHL and the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Dmytruk, 24, wrapped up a five-year collegiate career this season at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. The Scarborough, Ontario native led all Golden Hawks' defensemen in scoring for the second consecutive season with seven goals and 23 points in 28 games. Dmytruk was selected as a two-time Ontario University Athletes First Team All-Star in both 2007 and 2008. He recorded 28 goals, 54 assists and 82 points in 131 career games at Wilfrid Laurier University.
In three separate transactions, the RoadRunners have activated forward Nathan Gillies from the seven-day injured reserve, placed center Thatcher Bell on the three-day injured reserve, and transferred defenseman Reagan Rome to the 30-day injured reserve.
Gillies has seven goals and 15 points in 42 games this season between the RoadRunners and Charlotte Checkers, but has not appeared in the line-up since Feb. 18.
The RoadRunners continue their four-game road trip at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday when they open a three-game series with the Alaska Aces from Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. Catch all the action live on Independent 1310 KXAM beginning with "RoadRunners Countdown" at 8:00 p.m.
Phoenix returns to US Airways Center for their final home-stand of the regular season when they welcome the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:11 p.m. Tuesday, April 1.
The RoadRunners currently are in a three-way tie with the Stockton Thunder and Bakersfield Condors for the seventh seed in the National Conference playoff race with 53 points apiece. Their magic number for clinching a second straight berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs is 11.
