MOBILE, Ala. – The Suns struck out 14 times and didn't reach base after the sixth inning in an 8-2 loss to the Mobile BayBears on Thursday in front of 2,132 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Jake Gautreau doubled in Todd Donovan in the first inning off Suns starter Heath Totten to give the BayBears a 1-0 lead.

Suns right fielder Reggie Abercrombie made two errors leading to three runs. In the second, Abercrombie booted a ground ball base hit, allowing runners to advance. Danny Bravo later scored on Humberto Quintero's sacrifice fly, giving Mobile a 2-0 lead.

The Suns (26-32) scored twice in the top of the fourth on an RBI triple by Tarrik Brock and a run-scoring double by Derek Michaelis. However, BayBears starter Chris Oxspring dominated, fanning 11 Suns over five innings – eight in the first three innings. Oxspring (2-2) earned the victory in his third start of the season.

Mobile countered with two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth when Abercrombie misplayed a line drive hit by Quintero. Quintero reached third and Bravo scored. Oxspring singled in Quintero to give the BayBears a 4-2 lead.

In the eighth, Suns reliever Dimas Reina allowed four runs, walking three to put the game out of reach.

The BayBears (23-34) own the worst record in the Southern League and had lost six consecutive games to the Suns.

Michaelis and Victor Diaz had two hits each to lead the Suns.

Right-hander Edwin Jackson (2-3, 2.64 ERA) is scheduled to face Mobile lefty Cory Stewart (4-4, 3.58) at 7:05 p.m. Central at Hank Aaron Stadium.
